Kent has 12 career national titles, two world records, eight national records and over 300 career victories, Career Highlights: Six-time National Team Time Trial Champion Three-time National Pursuit Champion Two-time National Time Trial Champion Two-time Pan American Games Gold Medalist Tour DuPont Most Aggressive Rider stage award 5/8/00 Kent seriously broke his leg in a crash during a descent at Friday's stage of the Tour of the Gila. The 73-mile stage is known for it's hair-rasing downhill section which covers 10 miles and loses 1600 feet of altitude over a course of off-camber switchbacks. Kent had broken his femur (the major bone in the upper-leg) in two places. An ambulance rushed him to the airport where they flew him to University Hospital in Albuquerque. They said that they were going to have to do surgery to insert pins in his leg." Kent is expected to spend time convalescing at his residence in Corrales, New Mexico, a suburb of Albuquerque. |
